| We started at Society Turn, near Telluride, and took Colorado 145 south to Dolores. Just outside Dolores, we took 184 east to Mancos. This cuts about 8 miles off the official Skyway route, missing Cortez and the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park. I'm sure purists (and the Cortez Chamber of Commerce) would not approve, but it was a nice road and provided a pleasant rest stop at Summit Reservoir. In Mancos, we picked up U.S. 160 east to Durango. From Durango, we took U.S. 550 north through Silverton and Ouray to Ridgway. The route then follows Colorado 62 west to 145 and back to Society Turn. |
